Amber Dubois Search To Continue (Missing Escondido Girl)April 2, 2009![]() Search continues for missing teen Amber Dubois ESCONDIDO, Calif. -- A month and a-half after Escondido teenager, Amber Dubois disappeared, her mother is still desperate to find her. For Carrie McGonigle, the search for her missing daughter is taking a toll. "Some days are good. Some days are bad. I still have hope. Just thinking of her keeps me going every day," McGonigle said. It's hard for her, not knowing just how the case is going. Last Friday, Escondido police were scheduled to give her an update. "They were supposed to go over everything from beginning to end, with us, tell us where they're at and everything. They postponed it," McGonigle said. She said the update will come Thursday. Now, she's focused on bringing in more volunteers to search for Amber. "We're looking for volunteers. They're dwindling down to, I think we had 50 over the weekend," McGonigle said. That's down from around 300 searchers in the first weeks Amber disappeared. “It's dropped significantly. We do have the people that are there week after week, going out doing the searches, very loyal people and we need more," McGonigle said. Tina Leigh has been volunteering on weekends at the search command post for the last month. A command post that starting this week, is now closed week days, closed to focus their resources for the weekends. Leigh said, even though the number of volunteers has declined, there's a good reason not to give up, especially, after talking to a mother who came to offer support. "She said her daughter had been kidnapped for 4 months and came home safe, and that's hope," Leigh said. Sunday, she said, the search will go on. Leigh said hope will go on.
