Coast Guard Called To Cruise Ship For Rescue

SAN DIEGO -- The U.S. Coast Guard Wednesday ferried a man from a cruise ship off Point Loma to UCSD Medical Center, where he was listed in critical condition, authorities said.
A 41-foot Coast Guard rescue boat was used to take a 55-year-old man from the cruise ship Carnival Splendor to the Sector San Diego pier, where he was transferred to an ambulance and taken to the hospital, Lt. j.g. Amanda Sardone said.
The nature of the man's illness was not disclosed.
