Sheriff's Deputy Leanno Martinez Charged With Five Felonies
April 18, 2009SAN DIEGO -- A San Diego County Sheriff's Deputy has been charged with five felony counts stemming from an altercation with a girlfriend after a party at his home in San Ysidro, court documents obtained by us show.
Deputy Leanno Martinez, who is assigned to the Imperial Beach sheriff's sub-station, is accused of beating his girlfriend and threatening to kill her after a night of partying at his home on April 5, 2009, according to the documents.
Martinez, 32, pleaded not guilty at his arraignment in court on April 14, 2009 and remains free on bail.
A preliminary hearing is scheduled for June 4, 2009.
Sheriff's Department officials are refusing to comment on "a personnel matter."
Leanno Martinez should not be breaking the law when he's supposed to be working to uphold it. Return to San Diego Local News Roundup
