Gunman Who Carjacked Pregnant Woman Sought
March 18, 2009SAN DIEGO -- A gunman carjacked a young pregnant woman in the Mountain View area, but left her unhurt, authorities said Wednesday.
The woman was accosted as she headed to a car at 4300 Delta Street at 10:42 p.m. Tuesday, police reported.
The 24-year-old victim, who is seven months pregnant, was walking to a relative's car when the suspect allegedly walked up, shoved a handgun into her stomach and demanded the keys to the vehicle, said San Diego police Sgt. Bob Dare.
The woman was not injured in the carjacking, Dare said, adding that the gunman fled in a black 1999 Kia Sephia, California license number 5JNB503.
The carjacker was a Latino in his 30s, 5-feet-5, of medium build, wearing a black hat and black sweatshirt. The carjacking is being investigated by the department's Robbery Division, Dare said.
