Poway Puts Pressure On Water WastersMarch 17, 2009POWAY, Calif. -- The city of Poway could be putting pressure on water wasters. On Tuesday night the Poway City Council will consider a multifaceted conservation plan and a rate schedule that will give more incentives to residents who curb their water use. Currently, the city uses a flat rate system, which provides little incentives to save water. While residents will be offered incentives to cut back, the city does not plan to hire water cops to monitor water use. However, city leaders say all city employees, regardless of their assignment, will report observed water waste. Repeated violations would results in financial penalties. The County Water Authority may ask Poway to reduce water use by 15 to 20 percent by July 1st. The city council will vote on the proposal at 7 p.m. Return to San Diego Local News Roundup |
