House Fire Leads Police To Marijuana Growing OperationMarch 29, 2009SAN DIEGO -- Equipment being used for an indoor marijuana plantation apparently malfunctioned and set a house in Mira Mesa ablaze Sunday , authorities said. The blaze broke out at about 5:10 a.m. at on the 11000 block of Camarosa Circle, according to a San Diego Fire-Rescue Department dispatcher. Firefighters reported seeing flames on the roof of the residence when they arrived, the dispatcher said. Sgt. Ray Battrick of the San Diego Police Department said a marijuana cultivation setup was found in the house. One person is in custody in connection with the incident, Sgt. Art Campa said. The fire dispatcher listed the cause as "equipment failure" and estimated total damage of $150,000.
