Science Project Causes High School Bomb ScareMarch 25, 2009SANTEE, Calif. -- A suspicious device found on the roof of West Hills High School in Santee has been determined to be a science project that was "improperly disposed of," according to authorities. A sheriff's department spokesperson said that a school resource officer had asked for bomb arson unit. According to officials, an employee doing a routine check of the school noticed that a door with roof access in the gym complex was not latched. Upon further inspection an object was found that looked suspicious. It was later determined to be an egg wrapped in cotton in a bottle. The only disruption to students during the incident was that gym classes were held outside instead of in the gym. According to Catherine Martin with Grossmont Unified High School district an "all-call" was sent to parents to alert them to what was going on. The school was not put in lockdown Return to San Diego Local News Roundup |
