Mother To Retrieve Body Of Teen Found Dead In TijuanaMarch 31, 2009SAN DIEGO -- A North Carolina mother is grieving the death of her 19-year-old son after the missing teen was discovered stabbed to death in Playas de Tijuana. Elizabeth Taylor, the mother of 19-year-old Shane Pennington, spoke with 10News reporter Jennifer Jensen Tuesday morning from her home in North Carolina. Taylor said her son moved to California with plans to join the Army. In the meantime he was delivering meat for a company in Anaheim. Taylor said she last spoke with her son on the morning of March 23, when he indicated he was in Bishop, Calif., and wasn't feeling well. That same day Pennington sent a text message to his boss saying he was going to a doctor and would be in later. Neither one heard from him again. According to the U.S. consulate in Tijuana, Pennington's body was discovered the next morning in Playas de Tijuana. The newspaper "El Mexicano" reported that the body of a U.S. citizen matching Shane's description was found in Playas de Tijuana stabbed six times with a knife left in his chest. Taylor said she plans to go to Tijuana via San Diego to retrieve her son's body this week. Return to San Diego Local News Roundup |
