Woman Watches Thieves Loot Home On WebcamApril 13, 2009Boynton Beach Woman Sets Up Hidden Camera, Describes Burglary To 911 Dispatcher BOYNTON BEACH, Fla. -- Police have arrested four men accused of burglarizing a Boynton Beach woman's home after she set up a hidden camera in her house and watched the burglary via a webcam from her computer at work. Steven Morales, Curtis Williams, Jonathan Cruz and Scott George are all charged with burglary and attempted grand theft. Boynton Beach police said told TV station WPBF that Jeanne Thomas dialed 911 Wednesday after witnessing -- from her Fort Lauderdale office -- two men breaking into her home. She said she immediately thought of her dogs at home when she saw the men on the surveillance. "A full panic, just a full panic," Thomas said. "I could barely talk. I was just scared to death. Somebody's in my home. All I could tell the 911 operator is, 'Please get someone to my house quickly.'" She described what she was seeing to the 911 dispatcher. Listen to the entire 911 call. "I'm seeing him walk around my house," Thomas said in the 911 call. "He's in my bedroom." Thomas told the dispatcher she set up the hidden camera because her home had already been burglarized once before. Police said the burglars gained entry through the dog door. Nobody was home at the time, but Thomas said she could see her cat and three dogs inside. "I can't believe this," Thomas said. "This is unbelievable." Thomas stayed on the phone with the dispatcher until officers arrived. She said she watched the men take her son's video games. "Now he's still collecting things and they're laying everything out on my bed, back in my bedroom," she told police. Officers surrounded the house and took Williams and Morales into custody. "They think that they can just come in and take whatever they want to and not get away with it," Thomas said. "Well you know what? This time they didn't get away with it." Thomas said she recognized one of the assailants as a neighbor. "It makes you feel really bad," Thomas said. "Here you thought he was a good kid and it turns out he's really not a good kid. He's just with the riff raff of society." Return to San Diego Local News Roundup |
